Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life

Join the journey designed to deepen your relationship with god and with yourself.

Overview

The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life is an eight-month experiential retreat. This retreat is made by busy people living their everyday lives. Retreatants coming from various backgrounds and religious traditions are welcome. The Spiritual Exercises is a progressive unfolding of prayers, mediations, and reflections designed by St. Ignatius of Loyola [1491-1556] out of his own personal conversion experience and that of others to whom he listened.

Ignatius then wrote The Spiritual Exercises as a guide for those engaged in making this journey. They honor the uniqueness of each individual retreatant and lead each person to a deeper relationship with God, self, and others in the context of their everyday life and of their ministry to others. This 32-week retreat begins in September and ends in May.

How can I explore whether this retreat is for me at this time in my life?

The Exercises often help a retreatant to identify answers to these kinds of questions:

  • Do I desire to improve my relationship/friendship with God?
  • Do I want to discover more my “true self” and to grow in my prayer life?
  • Do I desire greater balance, greater purpose, greater satisfaction in my life?
  • Do I want to fully understand what I deeply desire at this time in my life?
  • Do I want a meditative-contemplative pause through my practice of daily prayer?
  • Do I want to set time aside each day to pray and explore my prayer life?
  • Do I want to learn more about the role of discernment in my everyday life?

What kind of commitment is required to enter this retreat-journey?
